This paper examines the psychological reality of reading ability during the second language acquisition using event- related brain potentials(ERPs).The discussion of P2,N400 and LPC shows that the reading ability of L2 learners focuses on word recognition during reading, however, the extent is less than L1 word recognition;as to the reading comprehension,L1 learners focus more brain resources on word comprehension than L1 sentence comprehension, and when they read L1 sentences, they focus more brain resources on the integration of the entire sentence understanding. Therefore, their integration of understanding is obviously not as good as L1 sentence understanding. We can investigate reading ability in the brain vividly through P2,N400 and LPC.Reading ability has a significant psychological reality.
