Late Qing's Folk Religion and Fiction Banned Policy

晚清社会文化生态呈现出多元化的图景,这种多元化的趋势比以往的历朝都更为复杂明显。民间宗教活动仪式日益兴盛,教门邪巫遍地兴起,各类行会帮会陆续产生,社会风俗败坏,而淫词小说则为民间势力的发展提供了各种参考资料,造成严重的社会危机和动荡,因而清廷对淫词小说的禁毁政策从此推广展开。

A wide range of social and cultural ecology was pictured in Late Qing, this trend of diversification was obviously more complicated than ever. Burgeoning folk, religious cere- monies, evil witch rose everywhere. All kinds of lines produced gang, and social customs were undermined. Pulp fiction supported the development of non-governmental forces, cau- sing serious social crisis and turmoil. Thus the Qing government began the banned policy on the Pulp fiction.
