吴武陵,中唐元和时人,以名儒、文章、史学、气节著称,两《唐书》本传记其事多有脱略,其生平行实学界鲜有人关注。今钩沉载籍,对其生平事迹作系统考索及辨析。知吴武陵本名偘,郡望濮阳,信州贵溪人。元和二年进士擢第,次年流永州。约元和十年北还,为裴度器遇,以史才直史馆。长庆初,擢户部员外郎。宝历元年,为桂管观察使李渤副使。大和元年,入为太学博士,因《阿房宫赋》荐杜牧登第。后出为韶州刺史,约大和七年因党争牵连,以赃贬潘州司户参军,八年卒。

Wu Wuling , a famous Confucian in the Mid Tang Dynasty , was also well-known for the beautiful articles , historical research and noble personality . There has not been a detailed record about Wu in New Book of the Tang History and Book of the Tang History ,and the academic field rarely pays attention to Wu . According to the historical data , this paper explores the Wu＆#39;s life . Wu Wuling , from Guixi of Xinzhou , had an old name Kan and hometown Puyang . He was a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations in the second year of Yuan He and was exiled to Yongzhou in the next year . Seven years later , he was highly appreciated and recommended by Pei Du and secured an official position as an official historian . In the early time of Chang Qing , he became the member of the Ministry of Revenue .In the first year of Da He ,he became the assistant of Li Bo who was the leader of Gui Guan . At the same time ,as the officer of imperial college ,Wu appreciated Du Mu＆#39;s article E Pang Palace Ode and recommended Du to pass the imperial examination . After that , Wu turned to the position as feudal provincial governor in Shaozhou . In the seventh year of Da He , as been involved in the court fight for illicit money , Wu was demoted to Panzhou and died there in the next year .
