新国标下理工院校英语专业实践教学的问题与对策——以西安理工大学为例

The Current Situation and Problem of and Countermeasures to Practical English Teaching in Universities of Science and Technology under the New National Standards for English Majors Teaching Quality—— Xi'an University of Technology as an Example

新的《英语专业本科教学质量国家标准》正在加紧制定并将成为英语专业准入、建设和评估的依据。新国标是对《英语专业英语教学大纲》的继承和发展,注重学生实际能力的培养以及全面素质和个性化的发展。英语专业实践教学环节薄弱、学生实际能力不强等问题在英语语言环境较为欠缺的理工院校表现尤为突出,强化实践教学是提高学生对知识的实际运用能力和全面素质以达到新国标要求的重要途径。明确"实践教学"的概念、意义和所指,正视理工院校英语专业实践教学的现状与问题,从课堂内外教学与多层次实践活动、毕业论文、学术研究等方面探索寻求相应的策略方法是逐步解决问题的有效途径。

The New National Standards for English Majors Teaching Quality is being made with speed and, when completed, will be the basis for admittance, construction and assessment of English majors teaching quality. As the continuation and development of The English Majors Teaching Outline, the new standards put emphasis on the cultivation of students＆#39; practical and comprehensive abilities and individuality. But the problems of practical English teaching being neglected and students＆#39; lack of practical ability is especially keenly felt in universities of science and technology where the English language environment is badly absent. Strengthening practical teaching is one way to solve the problems and meet the new standards. Properly defining the notions of practical teaching, honestly facing the problems, practicing more in classroom and outside-classroom teachings and training students in graduation paper writing and academic studies are the first and basic steps.
