工业的本质就是将无用的物质转变为有用的物质,将有害的物质转变为有益的物质。工业对于人类最伟大的贡献是,它是科技创新的实现载体和必备工具。人类最伟大的科学发现、技术发明,以至人类任何杰出想象力的实现,都需要以工业为基础和手段。科技进步是工业的灵魂,工业是科技进步的躯体。自从有了近现代工业,人类发展就如同插上了翱翔的翅膀。工业化从"丛林法则"时代走向文明时代的实质是,工业发展的目标更趋向于自觉增进社会福利。工业发展走向更高文明阶段的直接表现就是:以持续创新和"革命"的方式实现进化过程。所谓工业转型或产业升级,实质上是工业所具有的创新性和革命性的自发彰显,在此过程中,市场发挥资源配置的决定性作用。当前的工业转型是工业的工具效用和价值实质间内在关系的再调整,是工业创新能力的再释放。信息化、智能化是工业发展的逻辑必然。科学、技术、机器、信息、智能、艺术、人文,在工业化进程中汇聚,形成工业文明的内在逻辑,推动人类文明进程经历其最辉煌的发展阶段。

The essence of industry is transforming material useless into useful, substances harmful into useful. The contribution of industry for mankind lies in its function as carrier and essential tool in technological innovation. It needs industry as foundation and tool for the greatest scientific discoveries, technological invention, and realization of any outstanding imagination of human beings. The progress of science and technology is the soul of industry, and the latter is the body of the former. Ever since the modern industry period, the development of human beings has been seen as be put on the wings. The nature of industrialization change from the “law of jungle” period to civilization era is that the goal of industrial development tends to promote the social welfare consciously. The direct expression of industry development toward civilization stage is that the evolution is realized by continued innovation and revolution. Industrial transformation or upgrade shows spontaneously industrial innovation and revolutionary, the process in which market plays a decisive role in resource allocation. Information and intelligence are the logical results of industrial development. Science, technology, machinery, information, intelligence, arts, humanities are converged in the industrialization process, which forms the inherent logic of industrial civilization, and promotes the progress of human civilization into its most brilliant stage of development.
