This paper introduced an accurate and reliable method of judging whether oscillation has already occurred based on the properties and characteristics of generator active power oscillation. The method could quickly make the right judgment of active power oscil- lation, produced a warning signal timely, alerted monitoring personnel and take corresponding measures. At the same time it also could automatically switch generator set control system or control mode, eliminated the occurred oscillations, avoided inducing abnormal low frequency oscillation of regional power grid, and improved the operation safety and stability of power grid.
