大质量、高红移、强成团等特征表明,红移z-1.0的极红天体(EROs)和红移z-2.0的BzKs星系有町能是邻近大质量早型星系的前身星系,对这些星系的研究能为星系形成和演化模型提供观测L的约束.在研究EROs的物理特性,进而研究星系的形成和演化之前,我们必须对EROs样本中DGs(young,dusty starburst galaxies)和OGs(old galaxies)进行有效分类,
Extremely Red Objects (EROs) and BzKs continue to attract considerable interest. It has been suggested that they may be the direct progenitors of present-day massive E/S0 galaxies, and can provide crucial constraints on the current galaxy formation and evolution models. Therefore, the key question is to measure the relative fraction of OGs (old galaxies) and DGs (young, and dusty starburst galaxies) in the sample of EROs.
