英联邦学习共同体是国际远程教育领域唯一的政府间组织,其关注重点主要在教育、生活与健康两方面。该组织坚守以学习促进发展的理念,秉承促进开放学习/远程教育知识、资源和技术的开发与共享的宗旨,积极引领世界开放远程教育潮流,主要开展了开放教育资源运动、在线课程建设、开放远程教育质量保障以及农民终身学习计划等重大活动,在英联邦甚至全世界范围里产生了深远的影响,成为开放远程教育领域一流的国际组织。英联邦学习共同体以实践项目推动组织宗旨的不断实现、以开放的理念引领世界教育资源开放运动、以对质量的重视促进开放远程教育发展、以国际机构间平台的搭建开展各种合作等经验,值得推崇和借鉴。

The Commonwealth of Learning（COL）is the only intergovernmental organization in the international field of distance education,attending mainly to education,and life ＆ health. Adhering to the idea of learning for development and with the aim of promoting and sharing open learning/distance education knowledge,resources and technology,COL actively leads the trend of open distance education in the world and carries out activities concerning the Open Educational Resources movement,the building of the online courses,quality assurance of open and distance education as well as farmers’ lifelong learning programs. These activities have had a profound impact in the Commonwealth and even around the world,and made it a first-class international organization in the field of open and distance education. A lot of experiences from COL are worth learning and spreading：promoting the objectives of the organization through practical projects;open concepts in sharing educational resources;emphasis on quality of distance education;building platform of international institutions for educational cooperation.
