“句子”的来源

On the Origin of "Juzi"

段玉裁《说文解字注》指出"句子"的"句"是从"句(gōu)"分化而来,但是他没有作进一步的说明。本文从形音义三个方面探讨了这个问题,本文认为"句子"一词出现在宋代,《广韵》里始有jù音,但我们推断这个读音出现在齐梁时期。改变读音的目的是为了区别意义。

Duan Yu-cai ,a famous scholar in the Qing Dynasty points out that “句” in “句子（means sen-tence）” originates from “句（sound gou）” ,but he doesn＇t make farther explanation .The article discusses the issue from three aspects of form ,sound and meaning and finds out that the word“句子”（means sentence） ap-pears in the Song Dynasty ,the pronunciation is ＂ju＂in the book Guang Yun ,but the pronunciation can be dated back to the Six Dynasties period .The aim of changing pronunciation is to distinguish the difference in meaning .
