The Way to Imagine China

本文试图通过对现代主义以来西方建筑评论的主要流派和思想方法的简单回顾,引出对当代中国建筑评论现状与问题的思考,深讨在多元的西方理论工具和复杂的中国社会文化境遇之间如何建立一种有批判性并映射当下现实的建筑评论视角。

This paper starts with a historical review of the development of the major schools and methods of western architectural criticism since Modernism, It then draws attention to the condition and issues of contemporary architectural criticism in China. Trying to find a position in between the tools of western architectural theory and Chinese social-cultural realities, it discusses a means for establishing critical, reflective methods of architectural criticism.
