The Founder of Lingnan Modern Landscape Architecture: Hsia Changshi

关于夏昌世在风景园林学科和行业的贡献有待深入研究。记述了夏昌世早年游历与传统风景园林调查、传统园林研究、风景园林规划与设计实践等,讨论了其对于岭南风景园林发展的贡献。认为夏昌世是逐渐认识并最终深深热爱上我国传统园林的,岭南地区因夏昌世形成了一个传统园林研究和现代岭南风景园林创作的团队,夏昌世是岭南现代风景园林研究和实践的奠基人,也是我国具有突出贡献的现代风景园林大师。

There is few study about the contribution of Hsia Changshi in Landscape Architecture. This paper introduces Hsia Changshi＇s field trip in scenic spots, survey in Suzhou gardens, study in Chinese traditional gardens, and landscape planning and design. The author believes that there was a process for Hsia Changshi from knowing the Chinese traditional garden to studying it including the Lingnan garden. On the other hand, due to the influence of Hsia Changshi, a team was organized for the study of the traditional garden and modern landscape architectural design in Lingnan. So, Hsia Changshi is the most important founder of Lingnan modem landscape architecture, and one of the masters of Chinese modem landscape architecture.
