艺术书法是书法的主体形态。书法线条是构成艺术书法之美的主要元素,草书是艺术书法的代表,艺术书法首先要养"眼"悦"耳",宗旨是养心。书法文化是书法的价值取向。汉字的表意功能是文化书法生存的基础,文化书法是汉字的文化性的内在体现,是社会发展的时代要求,缺乏理想情怀和思想深度的文化书法作品,传之不远。实用书法是书法生存的根基,艺术书法的主体地位长期存在,文化书法数量虽少但作用巨大,艺术转身文化是亮丽的、痛苦的、艰难的,多元书法并存最终归于文化书法。
