认知视阈下的英语网络新词生成机制探究

An Exploration of Generation of Online Neologisms from Cognitive Perspective

文章从认知的角度对英语网络新词的生成机制进行探究。分别从隐喻和转喻认知的角度描述了英语网络新词的生成方式。从隐喻认知角度主要有四种生成方式:结构隐喻、方位隐喻、本体隐喻和语音隐喻,并且分析了使英语网络新词生成的相似性的不同特征。发现英语网络新词虽然在构词方式上有着区别于传统英语的一面,但其生成机理在本质上却并无区别。

An exploration is made of the generation mechanism of English online neologisms from a cognitive perspective. The generation process of English online neologism is analyzed from two respects： metaphor cognition and metonymy cognition. For the former there are four generation forms： structural metaphor, positional metaphor, ontological metaphor and phonetic metaphor. By an analysis of the characteristics in the generation of online neologisms, it is concluded that neologism is more or less of the same generation mechanism with the existing English words.
