摘要
《孽海花》中刻画的晚清士人形象,受中西文化的交融、碰撞和冲击,守旧与维新并存,表现出双重性:一方面,在科举取士制度的影响下,深谙四书五经的官僚们难以用其所学处理现实问题,在贪图享乐观念的驱动下,变得功利虚荣,甚至"卖直"邀官;另一方面,由于受"西学东渐"的影响,他们开始寻求变法维新,试图改变中国落后的面貌,希望国家强盛。晚清士人身上这种同时表现出的传统文化与西方潮流,使其有别于历史上的传统士人。
The images of scholars in the late Qing dynasty described in Nie Hai Hua show duality because of the cultural integration and shock,and the coexistence of conversation and restoration.On one hand,the bureaucrats who knew the classics well were hard to deal with the practical problems with their knowledge and even showed off outspeaking in order to gain official positions with the drive of the money worship;on the other hand,they began to seek reform and restoration to try to improve the national backwardness and make the county prosperity with the influence of western culture.The scholars in the late Qing dynasty distinguished themselves from the tradi-tional scholars with their coexistence of traditional culture and western trends.
