This paper analyzes Morrison＇s view of salvation through connecting the writer＇s life background and social setting with her work and doing a close reading of the story. Morrison＇s thoughts are both influenced by Christian values and traditional African religions. Her view of salvation reflected in Beloved is that black people can＇t be saved by God, but by themselves. Only by uniting and facing together the trauma the past leaves on them can they seek spiritual relief.
