摘要
作为自由教育哲学经典阐释的《1828年耶鲁报告》影响了美国大学的通识教育。报告强调古典学科尤其是古典语言不可弃。它是现代语言的基础,能提供最好的精神文化,具有最普遍的有用性。时至今日,报告所反映的教育理念和古典语言课程观仍然对我国大学英语课程通识化有启示作用。
How to carry out the reform of college English teaching in the context of general education,this is sill worth to discuss.As an excellent interpretation of liberal education,The ＂Yale Report of 1828＂ affected the general education at American universities. The report emphasizes that classical languages should not be abandoned, since it is a foundation of modem languages, a resource of various ideas and culturea, and it has the most general usefulness. The ideas in this report are still enlightening to today＇s college English teaching.
