摘要
情报界有不少人认为,微型机太小,不可能实际有效地应用于情报检索。本文分析了面向一个专业的检索系统的文献量,介绍了微型机已能达到的系统规模,并用两年来设计和建立微型机情报检索系统的初步实践,证明面向专业的情报单位利用微型计算机建立实用的情报检索系统足可能的。文章讨论了在存贮空间较小的情况下,文献量、检索功能、响应时间等与存贮空间的关系,提出了设计微型机情报检索系统的一些实用原则。鉴于手工处处理中用文摘来表示文献内容的方法,不适于机器处理,本文着重探讨了加以改变的必要性和可能性,并介绍了以主题词来表示文献内容的一种算法模式和文档结构。最后,探讨了我国计算机检索系统的结构,并论述了这种系统结构的可行性,认为这不仅适合目前情况,而且可能是今后发展的方向。
Many people in information circles commonly have the idea that microcomputers are too small to be practically and effectively applied in information retrieval. This paper analyses the amount of document of the retrieval system of a speciality and describes the system scale microcomputers already attained. A preliminary experience in designing and instituting information retrieval System of microcomputers for 2 years has proved that it is possible to create practical systems by making use of microcomputers in speciality-oriented information services This paper makes a further discussion on how microcomputers can be applied in information retrieval The relationship between document amount, retrieval functions, response time and storage space has been touched on in the light of a relatively limited storage space, and some practical principles for designing microcomputer information retrieval systems are given. It stresses the possibility and necessity of changing the traditional way of representing the contents of documents by means of abstracts It introduces an algorism mode and file structure of the microcomputer retrieval system in which the contents of documents are represented by subject terms. Finally, the paper makes a study of the system structure of the National Information Retrieval System of China suggesting that microcomputer clusters used in conjunction with general purpose computers in some retrieval centers should be actively promoted. The feasibility of developing this type of system structure is discussed The author is of the belief that this structure not only conforms with the actual conditions in China today, but may become an orientation of development in the future.
