试论用微型计算机开展情报检索的若干问题

A DISCUSSION OF SOME PROBLEMS OF UTILIZING MICROCOMPUTER IN INFORMATION RETRIEVAL

本文从省级综合性情报所的特点出发，指出省所应发展以本所和本地区现有馆藏为基础的小型综合性情报检索系统，分析了这样系统所必需的基本硬件配置，指出由于微型机内存小和不能配接磁带、硬盘、汉字输出设备、多终端等外部设备，综合性情报所难以建成实用的微型机情报检索系统。作者就利用现有微型机开展一些力所能及的服务工作提出了建议。

Taking the characteristics of provincial comprehensive information institutes into consideration, this paper points out that institutes at the provincial level should establish small scale retrieval systems based on the present capacity of libraries of each institute and each region It analyses the basic hardware units indispensable to these systems, and as microcomputers have a small memory and cannot be linked to necessary peripherals such as magnetic tapes, hard disks, Chinese character output, and multiterminals, it is difficult for comprehensive information institutes to establish useful microcomputer-based retrieval systems, Finally,some suggestions about utilizing available microcomputers to do competent service they are capable of doing are presented.
