LIBRARY AND INFORMATION RETRIEVAL AUTOMATION AND DATA—BASE COMPUTER

In this paper, a scheme of realizing library and information retrieval automation by means of a data-base computer is described. So far, the application of computers in the sphere of library and information retrieval automation chiefly depends on software（DBMS）.In order to lower the expenses of the system and .extend the use of computers in such a domain, a dedicated machine--the data-base computer is proposed. The hardware structure of the data-base computer, the elementary opera-tions involved and the realization of automatic query of library and infor-marion are discussed.
