数据库产业是在现代信息技术的基础上发展起来的，它的发展不能不受信息技术发展的影响。作者探讨了汉字处理、微机、光盘、通信和智能技术等的发展对我国数据库产业发展已经产生的和可能产生的影响。并在此基础上，对我国数据库产业的发展提出了一些建议。
