The thesis aims to give a detailed analysis of the Non-verb “have”clause --- NP1+HAVE+A+NP2.It first divides NP2 into five situations:NP2 as the part,quality,subordinate,information rank, and following by to do.And then,it gives an explanation of its different interpersonal functions in these five different situations by means of Chomsky’s Empty Category theory.
