The Past and Present of Film Education in China

我国的电影教育，创始于三十年代的上海、南京，为适应当时电影事业的发展，曾相继成立过一些训练班式的电影学校，但规模都很小，历时也不长，均因经费、师资缺乏等原因而先后关闭，影响甚微。南京金陵大学，早在1922年开始用电化教育手段配合教学工作，37年正式成立电影播音专修科，

Education in film in China began in Shanghai and Nan- jing in the 1930s. and has developed greatly since the foun- ding of the people's Republic of China. The Acting Arts Research Institutte under the Central Film Bureau established in September, 1950 has developed through the Beijing Film Secondary School to become the Beijing Film Academy. This represents an integrated system of film education to the higher education level. The Beijing Film Academy was initially set up in imitation of the USSR's Moscow Film University. Over the last few years. educational reform has been carried out and the Academy has drawn on the experience of Western film academies and schools and it bas row set up an educational style of its own on the basis of na- tional conditions. The Beijing Broadcasting Academy aiso plays a major role in higher learning in film and television. In eddition. dozens of universities have initiated courses in film and television. A document has been issued by the State Council's Education Chmmission calling for education in film and television at the university and middle school level in China. China has produced a group of university teachers of film and television, who have made remarkable achievements in academic research This issue of THE JOURNAL OF BEIJING FILM ACADEMY is devoted to essays by professional university teachers of film and television.
