History Written on the Screen-On art of the late epic films

（一）历史只有一部，它随着逝去的岁月，深深铭刻在时间本身的记忆之中。但对于不能亲历的后人来说，历史的存在方式却是口耳相传的传奇故事，亲历者们留下的回忆追记，史学家们以文字符号所做的记载和推测，艺术家们借助于各自熟悉的媒介手段所做的纪录和艺术的再现。再现也是一种创作，并且不能从根本上悖于历史的真实。

The achieved success of the historical epics on Chinese revolu- tion in the late years has been sumarized by the author from five as- pects: A number of vivid images of outstanding revolutionary lead- ers appeared on the screen; A series of feature films on major histor- ical events have been successfully released; The historical material- ism has been applied during artistic creation; The situation of film-making development got improved; Rich experiences were gained for the developing ahead. The author made an analysis on the breakthroughs and the de- velopments of artistic concepts. He then points out the remarkble characterristic of the late historical epics: Instead of a holding atti- tude for essential political task, the artists are in pursuance of doing their ideal art, they atempted throwing their enthusiasm and energy into the epic making.
