Some Preliminary Remarks on Scaling a New Height in the Field of College English Teaching

本文探讨了大学英语上新台阶、提高大学生整体英语水平的问题．对大学英语教学现状进行了详尽分析，井总结了经验，指出了问题．在此基础上提出了上新台阶的八项措施，包括妥善处理语言能力与交际能力的关系，落实专业阅读、增设八级，改进考试等．

This paper explores the possibility of scaling a new height in the field of College English teaching-- upgrading all college students＇ English proficiency to s higher level. An analysis of the current situation in the College English teaching is presented in detail. The article assesses the problems ahead of the teachers as well as the progress in the teaching reform of College English. It is suggested that eight proposed workable measures he adopted, including properly handing the interrelationship between linguistic competence and communicative competence ,implementing the syllabus for specialized improving College English Test etc.
