On the Folk Faith of the Ethnic Minorities in Western Regions

民间信仰是古代西域各族群信仰体系普遍的基本特征和表现,在西域各时期民众的习俗生活中,都有诸多体现。即使在今天,西域各民族的民俗生活中仍遗留了较多原始信仰的文化痕迹,这些文化遗存在西域社会发展过程中长期影响着西域各族民众的生活和文化空间,并形成了西域民族信仰的多彩空间。

Folk faith has been an universal feature and manifestation in the belief systems of the ethnic minorities in Western Regions since the ancient times, and it incarnates in the life styles and customes of the people there in all periods. Even today quite a few primitive beliefs are still retained in the folk life of the ethnic minorities in Western Regions, such as Mazdaism, Jing religion, Moni religion, Saman religion, Taoism, etc. They are affecting the consciousness of the ethnic minorities in Xingjiang. And it makes their faith diversified.
