Metapragmatic expressions and their pragmatic management in institutional discourse

机构语篇中的元语用表达在语言表征和语用功能方面有其独特性。基于凤凰卫视争辩性节目《一虎一席谈》中嘉宾话语,本文总结元语用表达的主要语言表征类型,并考察其在机构语境制约下的语用管理功能。语料分析发现,在交际规范、机构任务与目的、敏感面子与形象制约下,交际者选择言说施为句、元语用评论语、信源标记语和重述标记语对交际进程、论辩过程以及人际关系实施影响与控制,体现交际者为顺应机构语境制约,对交际实施语用管理的意图。

Metapragmatic expressions(MPEs) in institutional discourse demonstrate unique characteristics. By analysizing Tiger Talk, an argumentative TV talk show, this study depicts the linguistic representations of MPEs and explores the use of MPEs for pragmatic management in institutional discourse. It is found that,under the constraints of interactive norms, institutional tasks and goals, and concerns for face and impression,interlocutors normally employ performatives, metapragmatic comments, evidentials, and reformulators to manage interactions along three dimensions, namely, interactive process, argumentation process and interpersonal relationship. The findings indicate that speakers choose MPEs to execute pragmatic management in order to adapt to institutional constraints.
