In the Northern Song Dynasty, Wang Gong (a famous poet and painter in ancient China) embraced such a close relationship with Su Shi (a writer, poet, painter, calligrapher and astatesman of the Song Dynasty) and other representatives of the old policy party that he was banished to Guangxi for three times when the new policy party came to power. For the first time, he was banished to Binzhou on the second year of Shenzong Yuanfeng(1079) and spent three years there. Again, he was banished to Quanzhou on the first year of Huizong Yuanfu (1098) and was reinstated on the third year. For the third time, he was considered as Yuandang Party (the old policy party) and exiled to Guangxi on the first year of Huizong Chongning (1102). During the exile, Wang Gong kept up regular correspondence with Su Shi, his brother Su Zhe and others, and visited brothers of the Zhu family in Quanzhou. His works such as Selected Poetry of Wang Dingguo, Analects of Wang Dingguo, Notes of the Analects of Confucius have been lost except for the two pieces of landscape poetry written in Quanzhou.
