中国传统灯彩又称灯花。上海的灯彩以花纹图案细腻、色彩鲜艳著称．内容有”万家灯火、绣球灯、青狮灯、荷花灯”等民间特色题材．在历史上曾有过一段繁荣、发达时期。1956年上海工艺美术研究所成立灯彩专业．当时享有“江南灯王“美誉的灯彩名家何克明．被聘请进入研究所从事灯彩研究、创作．在传统灯彩技艺基础上创立了”立体动物灯彩”．以各种传统动物造型．配以妍丽的民族色彩布料．

Shanghai Colored-lantern Making is famous for delicate patterns and rich colors,which is themed with 'a myriad twinkling lights,silk hall lantern,lion-shaped lantern,lotus-shaped lantern' and other folk feature.In history,Shanghai Colored-lantern Making enjoyed great prosperity,which was well—developed.50 three-dimensional animalshaped lanterns,exhibited in Macao,are all classic masterpieces of He Kerning' s Colored-lantern Making on display in Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts over years.
