语言何为?——从《名字》看德里罗的语言观

DeLillo's View of Language as Seen in The Names

对语言的关注一直是德里罗写作的一个核心。本文通过对《名字》的阅读来分析考察他的语言思想。我们认为,在后现代写作的狂潮之中,德里罗不仅挑战了传统的关于语言指代现实的观点,同时也对后现代主义所持的"表征危机"的看法提出了质疑。《名字》所呈现的并非一个后现代的语言观,而是怀疑语言的再现功能。相反,在德里罗看来,根本不能从再现的角度看待语言,因为语言就是存在自身,只有在语言之中才有救赎的希望。

This paper aims to study Delillo＇s idea of language through a close reading of The Names, by which we find that in the turmoil of postmodernist writing, DeLillo not only questions the traditional view of language as representa- tion of reality, he is also suspicious of the postmodernist view of the crisis of representation. Rather, for DeLillo, lan- guage should not be viewed from the point of representation because it is existence as such, only in language the hope of redemption still abides.
