蔡元培《中国伦理学史》对民国时期的朱子学研究产生了重要影响,尤其是既讲朱熹思想来源于周敦颐、邵雍、张载、二程,又特别强调程颐与程颢的差异以及朱熹与程颐的学派关系,从本体论、心性论和工夫论三个层次对朱熹思想的阐述,对于朱陆两派之异同的重视以及从多个角度所作的探讨,对于朱子学之价值与局限的分析,不仅在民国时期开朱子学研究之先,在当今也仍具有重要的学术价值。

Cai Yuanpei＇s History of Chinese Ethics had an important influence on the study of Zhu Xi＇s theo-ry in the period of Republic.Especially,it said that Zhu Xi＇s thought originated from Zhou Dunyi,Shao Yong,Zhang Zai and Two Cheng,also emphasized the differences between Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi,and the school relationship between Zhu Xi and Cheng Yi in a special way.In the meantime,it elaborated Zhu Xi＇s thought on the three dimensions：ontology,theory of mind and nature,theory of gongfu,investigated the similarities and differences between Zhu Xi＇s and Lu Jiuyuan＇s school from different angles.The analysis of the value and limitations of Zhu Xi＇s theory is not only before the study of Zhu Xi＇s theory in the period of Republic,but also has important academic value today.
