David Herbert Lawrence’s Sons and Lovers and Thomas Wolfe’s Angel ,Look Home-ward are two modernist growth novels ,both of which center closely around their writers’ life ex-periences ,giving an account of the growth of Paul Morel and Eugene Gant-the two protagonists of the novels .It is showned through comparative analysis that D .H .Lawrence and Thomas Wolfe are very similar in depicting the characters ’ s psychology ,family ,social milieu ,and life experi-ences .The growth processes of Paul Morel and Eugene Gant seem to be the artistic and unique re-flection of T homas Wolfe’s and D .H .Law rence’s real life .
