《指南尺牍生理要诀》是近代名人丁拱辰总结闽南社会生活经验所编纂的民间日用类书。该书向广众庶民传授养身赡家的应世技巧,从一个侧面反映出社会流动频繁、高移民输出地区的日用常行和商贩流俗。晚清时期,《指南尺牍生理要诀》流传各地,翻刻颇多,有着较为广泛的影响,不仅是在闽南,许多人皆以该书为范本酬答进退,而且在海外,也成了不少移民的酬世锦囊。

A Guide to Letter Writing and Trading Etiquette is a book for folk daily practice,which was compiled by Ding Gong-chert, a celebrity in the modem period of China, and the book was a summary on the social life experiences in south of Fujian province. This book want to teach the public all kinds of etiquette for support the family and deal with the social rela- tionships,well reflected daily routines and prevalent trading conventions in south of Fujian province which was a region of fre- quent social mobility and high immigration output. The late Qing period,A guide to Letter Writing and Trading Etiquette spread around south of Fujian province in various versions, exerting substantial and widespread influences. Furthermore, the book traveled abroad with more and more emigrants who treasured it as the ＂Bible＂ for communicating skills and trading conventions.
