The Relationship between Local Authorities and Gentry Viewing from the Zhuping Railway Building in Late Qing Dynasty

为了解决萍乡煤炭的外运,清政府修建了株萍铁路。萍乡西部的士绅以种种理由阻碍铁路的修建。本文以《筹办萍乡铁路公牍》为主要资料,探讨铁路修建过程中官府与地方士绅之间的利益博弈。

The Qing authorities built Zhuping railway （a railway from Zhuzhou to Pingxiang） to help the coal transportation in Pingxiang. But the gentry in the west of Pingxiang obstructed the construction with varies reasons. On the basis of The Official Document making arrangements in Pingxiang Railway, this paper explores the benefit game between the local authorities and gentry during the railroad building.
