The British and French colonists purposely adopted language policy of assimilation and cultural genocide towards aborigines during the Dominion of Canada, which permeated the whole process. No matter what specific language and cultural policies the colonists took, or whether it was driven by economic interests, or political interests, its ultimate goal was to destroy aboriginal languages and cultures from the essence, and so as to realize the maximization of colonial interests.
