摘要
元语言是外语课堂教学不可式缺的要素。本文认为,作为一门陌生语言的系统传授媒介,元语言可以是学习者的母语或目的语。当师生之间尚不能全然通过目的语传递信息的时候,两种语言通常交替使用,呈现出频繁的语码转换现象笔者通过对元语言运用规律的阐释,指出目前颇受推崇的全目的语授课方式超越了基础教育阶段的教学实际,屏蔽了母语的元语言功能,不适于基础阶段外语教学。
Meta-language is an inevitable element in foreign language teaching. As a measure for imparting a new language, meta-language can be realized target language. While the target language cannot serve as a in the form of learners' mother tongue and the sole conveyance of messages between teacher and students, dual languages are interchangeably used known as code-switching in the classroom. Based on its natural occurrence in the teaching process, the authors point out that the prevalent exclusive approach of entire target language instruction is not constructive for English teaching at elementary- and secondarv-schoolstages, for it hinders the function of meta-language via the mother tongue.
