Different patient produces different version of story related to illness because the medicine is of bio--psycho- social characters. This article described the diagnostic and therapeutic experience of a victim with rectal cancer, trying to practice " narrative medicine" by recognizing, absorbing, interpreting and being moved by the stories of illness. By communicating heart to heart, we can establish a bridge between doctors and patients, which paves the way for better patient's experience. The article also mentioned what the physicians, patients, hospitals and related administrative parts need to do in practicing narrative medicine more effectively and sustainably.
