中国科学社1915年创办的《科学》是中国近代传播科学技术的重要阵地。《科学》尤为关注科学家,通过传记、轶闻、评论等形式对科学家进行介绍,构建了聪明、勤奋刻苦、热爱科学和科学真理的科学家形象。《科学》中科学家的描述力求客观、准确,并通过生活逸闻趣事对科学家形象进行补充,介绍的科学家以国外为主,但是对中国科学家也有所关注。《科学》对科学家形象的构建,有利于传播科学知识与科学精神,提高民众科学素养,同时对于提升中国近代科学家的社会地位和声望也有着积极的作用。

The Science was an important scientific journal of science and technology communicating which was created by the Science society of China.The Science focused on the modern scientists.The Science constructed the intelligent,diligent,attentive modern scientists＇ image through biography,anecdotes and comments.The Science described scientists objectively and accurately.Anecdotes were important complementary of constructing modern scientists＇ image.The scientists were more foreign than Chinese.The construction of modern scientists＇ image by the Science played an important role in communicating science,improving the public scientific literacy and the Chinese scientists status.
