英国循道公会在昭通传教历史评述

Comment on the Missionary History of Methodist Church of in Zhaotong

循道公会(Methodist Church)是基督教新教卫斯理宗的支会之一,在19世纪这个被欧美史学界称为"新教扩张的世纪"里,积极向中国传播,并在昭通地区作了长时间的传教工作,留下诸多社会公益事业。由于在昭通活动的基督教各宗派中,循道公会坚持的时间最长,影响极大,社会公益事业活跃,因而有必要对其在昭通的传播历史作一番回顾性的梳理。

As one of the branches of Protestantismus ,Wesleyans ,Methodist Church spread quickly in China during the 19th century ,which was named“The Century of Protestantismus Expansion” by European and American historians . Methodist Church spent a long period of time preaching in Zhaotong and developed lots of public welfare .Because Meth-odist Church was the one which stayed in Zhaotong longest ,enjoyed greatest influence and took an active role in social public welfare among Christian denominations in Zhaotong ,it is necessary to analyze and summarize its missionary histo-ry .
