台湾与福州之间,由于地理相近及行政上的隶属关系,人员与事务往来密切,尤其在科举考试中,因福建乡试考场设在福州,大批台湾士子如期来省会应试,福州因此成为闽台科举考试的中心。台湾士子对于福州的热爱与向往,既有师生、同学之间的人情交谊与学问切磋,也有为仕途、功名的攀登与拼搏。到福州赴考的台湾士子,都对福州留下了深刻印象,福州成为了台湾士子心目中向往的科考圣地与发迹福地。

Because of the short distance in geography and the subjection rapport in politics, people between Taiwan and Fuzhou contact with each other frequently. It is shown especially in imperial examinations for that Fujian set its provincial examination place in Fuzhou and then, a lot of Taiwan scholars went there to have exams on schedule, which can explain why Fuzhou became the center of imperial examinations between Taiwan and Fujian. The fondness and yearning that Taiwan scholars had on Fuzhou included companionship and the experience of knowledge exchange between teachers and students and between classmates, and also the climb and striving for official careers and fame. Fuzhou left a deep impression on them and became a holy place for imperial examinations and a blessed place for fame in their minds.
