In her writings, Alice Walker, a black American woman writer, relies on her unique experiences as a black woman and clings to"Womanism"action strategies, which make black women at the margins occupy dominant positions. In her novels, she exposed the multiple oppressions suffered by black women in the white-dominated society and explored African-American women's difficult process of achieving self construction in a society dominated by male hegemonies, which highlights the distinctive female consciousness of black women and their pursuit of gender equality.
