The Bankruptcy of Liberalism in Modern China

近代中国自由主义失败的原因,正如自由主义知识分子殷海光所说"先天不足,后天失调",其失败是多方面原因造成。思想不能以成败论英雄,更不能以此作为判断真理与谬误的标准。自由主义虽然在近代中国失败了,但是自由主义的精神和价值仍是值得肯定的。

The reason that modern Chinese liberalism failed is, as liberal intellectual Yin Haiguang said ＂ being congenitally deficient, acquired disorders＂ , its failure was caused by many reasons. Thought cannot be measured by success or failure, and even more cannot take it as the criterion for judging truth or falsehood. Though Liberalism in modem China failed, the liberal spirit and value is still worthy of recognition.
