汉语公示语的翻译对于来自异国他乡的外国人来说,不仅在吃穿住行等方面提供了便利,同时也是帮助他们快速了解中国及其文化的一个窗口,是对外宣传中国及中国文化,增进相互文化之间理解的一个及其重要的媒介和手段。故本文探讨了如何在兼顾读者理解力的基础上,做好汉语公示语的翻译,更多地保留中国的文化特色。

The translation of public signs from Chinese to English not only facilitates foreigners from abroad, in terms of clothing, shelter and other, but also is a window to help them quickly learn about China and its culture. Meanwhile it is a critically important media and means to publicize China and Chinese culture, enhance mutual understanding among cultures. This paper discusses how to tend to preserve China＇s cultural characteristics in translating Chinese public signs on the base of taking the interests of readers＇comprehension.
