Is there an age limit for the use of biologic valve?

近年来,生物瓣在国外的使用量持续增长而机械瓣的使用量则有所下降,在国内亦有相同的变化趋势。不少学者提出患者年龄不再是瓣膜选择的关键因素,并建议将生物瓣的推荐使用年龄由65岁降至60岁,甚至60岁以下,引起了较大的争议,现综述如下。

Summary In recent years, application of biologic valve has increased steadily abroad whereas mechanical valve usage has decreased. It is a similar trend in China. Quite a few scholars advocate that patient age is no longer the critical factor for selection of valve prostheses, and recommend application of biologic valves in patients aged 60 years, even in patients younger than 60 years. Age limit for the use of biologic valve is intensely debated. Here, we will discuss it in detail.
