The latest development of the North America shale gas chemical industrial chains,consisting of methane,ethane,propane and butane,was summarized.The methane industrial chain contains methane to methanol,methane to liquid fuel and methane to ethylene.The price of the North America natural gas in the future will remain relatively stable,and methanol units based on natural gas will get unprecedented development.The large scale GTL units may be limited partly because of high investment cost and high carbon emission.But the one-step process from natural gas to ethylene is likely to be a great breakthrough of ethylene production technology in the next two years.Under the guarantee of sufficient and cheap ethane,North America will replace Middle East and become the lowest area of the world in ethylene production cost in the future.The downstream chemical chains of propane and butane are more active in Asia,so the export of surplus propane and butane will be more optimistic.
