安·恩莱特在《聚会》中讲述了一个家庭三代人由于爱的缺失而导致的悲剧命运,它呈现出现代文明中两性之间、亲子之间、手足之间以及自我之间爱的缺失,表达了对家庭伦理失衡的忧思以及对健康家庭伦理的诉求。在恩莱特看来,"爱"是家庭伦理的核心原则,是救赎伤痛的良药。
In her novel The Gathering, Anne Enright narrates the tragic destinies of three generations in a big family due to lack of love. Enright expresses her worries about the unbalance of family ethics and appeal for healthy family ethics in modern civilization by describing the lack of“love”between two genders, parents and children and siblings as well as love toward oneself. For Enright,“love”is the central principle of family ethics and the remedy for hurts.
