林语堂英文创作中的翻译现象

Traces of Translation in English Writings by Lin Yutang

林语堂谙熟中美两种文化,擅长中英文写作,而其英文"原创"作品中充满"翻译"的痕迹。本文从林语堂的双重文化身份及其对话意识入手,以The Importance of Living(《生活的艺术》)为例,分析其"主题译介"意图、"文本裹挟"策略和"亦译亦写"风格。本文认为,林语堂英文作品中的翻译现象是其"中国心"的文化标注和英文诠释,是一种趋同存异原则下的文化外包装策略,具有跨文化交流效应和文学互文作用。

Lin Yutang is not only a bicultural scholar but also a bilingual writer. His English writings as literary creation are invested with many traces of translations from Chinese works. The present paper, based on a survey of Lin＇ s bieuhural identity and sense of cuhural dialogue , gives an analysis of three characteristics in his English writings, namely, subject introduction as purpose, text blending as strategy, trans-writing as style. The authors point out that traces of Lin＇ s translation wrapped in his English writings, as a cultural labeling and English interpretation of his Chinese heart, is a tactful way of packing Chinese culture based on a principle of seeking the common while keeping the different, which can serve as a model of cross-cultural exchange and literary intertextuality.
