态度系统视角下小说《手斧男孩》的评价意义研究

An Appraisal Approach to the Novel Hatchet from the Perspective of Attitude System

本文在系统功能语言学的理论框架内运用态度系统对小说《手斧男孩》里的评价意义进行语篇分析,以考察小说中协商和结盟的人际意义如何通过词汇等语言形式体现。研究表明态度系统对展现主人公的情感世界以及揭示小说心灵成长的主题有着积极的语篇建构意义。表示情感系统的用词体现了主人公Brian心理上从消极到积极的情感变化;表示判断系统的用词体现了主人公在荒野中历经磨难而采取积极行动得以生存;表示鉴赏系统的用词体现主人公在绝境中意识到自我的重要价值,以及他对人与人、与动物、与自然相互之间和谐相处的生态价值观的理解。

Within the theoretical framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics, this paper presents an appraisal ap- proach to the novel Hatchet based on the theory of attitude system so as to examine how the interpersonal meaning of negotiation and alignment is realized in the novel. The findings show that the emotional world of the hero Brian and the theme of the spiritual growth are construed by the words from attitude system. Words from affect system realize Brian＇ s emotional changes from negative to positive ; words from judgment system realize Brian＇ s bitter experiences in the wilderness and his survival after his positive actions; words from appreciation system realize Brian＇ s aware- ness of the value of himself and his understanding of the for teenagers＇ spiritual growth. significance of harmony among people, animals and nature
