摘要
美国著名理论物理学家范弗莱克一生进行了包括量子理论、磁性理论、原子光谱、晶体场理论和磁共振等方面的广泛研究.范弗莱克对现代磁学的发展做出了卓越的贡献,被誉为"现代磁学之父".1977年,因为磁性和无序体系电子结构的基础性理论研究,他与安德逊、莫特分享了诺贝尔物理奖.本文梳理了他的生平,回顾了他的科学研究工作以及他在人才培养上鲜为人知的事迹.
John H.van Vleck is the most famous American theoretical physicist,he made important contribution in the field of condensed matter physics.His put his all life in a wide range of scientific research work,including quantum theory,paramagnetic and diamagnetic theory,atomic spectroscopy,the crystal field theory and ferromagnetic resonance,and so on.John van vleck made important contribution to modern magnetism,so he known as the "father" of modern magnetism.In 1977,because of magnetic and disordered system electronic structure of the basic theory research,he won the Nobel Prize in physics with Anderson and Mott.The article introduces his life、the scientific research work and some little-known stories on training scientific talent.
