The National Day holiday week this year saw another new record in overseas travel by Chinese mainlanders. Seoul, Tokyo, Paris, London and other leading world destinations saw torrents of Chinese shoppers flooding the large shopping centres. Most of the major retailers there were fully prepared, with Chinese interpreters on hand and promotion kits in Chinese available. A Xinhua News release reported that China's trade in tourism will record a deficit of over US$100 billion in 2014, by far the largest factor in the country's service industry deficit.
