Characteristics of application of acupuncture and moxibustion in Treatise on Febrile Diseases

张仲景《伤寒论》论述了许多针灸治疗的方法,在理论和实践上都有较高的指导意义和实用价值,应用中颇具特色的有6个方面:辨证求本,随证施针;既治外感,又疗杂病;实针虚灸,各有所宜;未病先防,既病防变;汤药针灸,相得益彰;火逆之误,伤阴亡阳。

Treatise on Febrile Diseases by Zhang Zhongjing discusses many methods for acupuncture and moxi- bustion and is of great guiding significance and practical value in terms of theory and practice. There are six charac- teristics of application ： exploring causes by syndrome differentiation and applying the needle based on the syndrome ; tl＇eating both exogenous disease and miscellaneous diseases;performing acupuncture for excess syndrome and moxi- bustion for deficiency syndrome;preventing the development and progression of disease;using a combination of de- coction and acupuncture ＆ moxibustion;mistreatment by warming therapy will injure yin and deplete yang.
